Dalton football lost a hard fought game at Homecoming 8-2. Both defenses played tough and neither team could mount a scoring drive until Sacred Heart broke through in the fourth quarter, staking them to an 8-0 lead. Dalton played hard trying to get back into the game and had the crowd on their feet when Andrew Heinrich hit Peter Vallimarescu down the right sideline for 44 yards, getting Dalton deep into Sacred Heart territory. Unfortunately, the Sacred Heart defense held and Dalton was unable to score. Dalton pinned their offense up to the goal line in the final minutes and Peter Vallimarescu ended getting a rare Safety for 2 points. This gave Dalton an opportunity to win the game out right, getting the ball at mid-field, but the Sacred Heart played strong defense once again to end Dalton's last threat. Greg Barton was outstanding on defense with 14 tackles, a sack and an interception.
