A stunning repeat of last year’s victory, the Dalton Chess Team wrapped up spring break as the top US High School Chess Team, checkmating beyond 1,745 of the most competitive scholastic chess players in the country from 38 states this past weekend in Washington, DC.
On March 4, 27 Dalton girls competed in the All Girls NYC Chess Championship. The tournament, organized by Chess In The Schools 501c3 organization, hosted over 350 of the city’s top girl chess players across Kindergarten to 12th Grade.
The Dalton Chess team “Bacon, Egg, and Cheese En Passant” featuring Sumit Dhar '23, Gus Huston '24, Ryan Peterson '24, and Nate Shuman '24 made history by becoming the first scholastic team to win the U.S. East Amateur Championship!
