Dalton Girls Excel at the All Girls NYC Chess Championship
The All Girls NYC Chess Championship returned on March 5 for the first time post-pandemic, with almost 250 girls participating across New York City.
Fourteen Dalton students competed in the Primary (K-2) and the Elementary (K-5) Championship sections, achieving outstanding results. The K-2 team placed first and the K-5 team finished second, overall. In addition, the teams logged several top individual finishes.
Dalton HS students Dylan Challenger '23 and Hudson Beaudoin '22 volunteered to coach the team alongside Coach Beatriz Marinello. Dylan and Hudson reviewed games between rounds and provided pointers for upcoming games. It marked the first time competing in an over-the-board chess tournament for some students, so the shared insights and experiences helped tremendously.
It is always wonderful to see the Dalton chess community members support each other and share in continued success. Go Tigers!
