Dalton Scores Big at SuperNationals VIII

Dalton brought 64 players to the 2025 K-12 SuperNationals in Orlando and delivered one of our strongest national results to date.
Held every four years, SuperNationals is the largest scholastic chess tournament in the world, bringing together thousands of K–12 players from across the country to compete for national titles under one roof. This year’s event drew over 4,700 students representing all 50 states, creating an exciting atmosphere of competition, camaraderie, and school pride.

The Dalton team earned standout results:

🏆 2nd Place – K-6 Elementary Championship
🥉 3rd Place – K-1 Championship
🥉 3rd Place – K-3 Under 1000
🥈 3rd Place – K-3 Primary Championship
🥉 4th Place – K-8 Middle School Championship
🥉 5th Place – K-6 Under 1200
🏅 7th Place – K-12 High School Championship

Dalton players also took home individual honors, with several placing in the top 10 nationally — including a “lucky 7s”: Elliott Goodrich ‘31 (K-6) and Dalton Gorczyca ‘36 (K-1) earning 7th place in their respective sections! William Safranek ‘26 achieved 6 points, becoming a co-champion for the High School Championship.

Many other students achieved personal milestones, from ratings jumps to first national victories.

This outstanding performance reflects the talent, discipline, and heart of our players, and of the strength of our Chess Program from kindergarten through High School. Congratulations to the entire team for their dedication, sportsmanship, and success! Click here to view the photo gallery.
