High School French Cinema Students Stand Up Against Discrimination

Students in Fatima Mhinat’s French Cinema elective explored and discussed the impact of images through the work of French street artist JR. Although images can be interpreted, used to export, and express biases and propaganda, they can also help promote and raise awareness.
During Action Week against Racism and Anti-Semitism, which is an annual event that took place from March 21-28, teachers and parent associations teamed up to combat any form of hatred in French schools.

Our students were inspired by these actions and the theme of this campaign: #TousUnisContreLaHaine (United Against Hatred), Dalton students showed their support and expressed their ideas by creating their own campaign materials and slogans. They learned about the social and historical contexts that generated this yearly campaign and enhanced their vocabulary throughout the project.

We invite you to explore their thoughtful and inspiring social justice projects in the accompanying photos.
