On Saturday, March 2, 16 girls proudly represented Dalton at the 2024 All Girls NYC Chess Championship at PS11M. This prestigious event is organized by Chess in the School, a 501(c)(3) organization that teaches Title I students. This event brought over 400 of the city's top girl chess players from Kindergarten to 12th Grade.
Throughout the tournament, the Dalton girls demonstrated remarkable moments of celebration and perseverance, exhibiting not only their impressive chess skills but also their outstanding sportsmanship and unwavering support for each other.
In a heartening display of camaraderie, two High School students, Iris Mou ‘27 and Johji Nakada ‘26, generously joined the team as chess assistant coaches for the day, adding to the sense of unity and collaboration.
Together, we are building a formidable chess team and fostering a deep sense of pride and accomplishment within our school community.
Congratulations to all the girls who participated in this memorable event, with a special acknowledgment to our three first-time tournament players. Go Dalton! Go Tigers!
