Chinese Lunar New Year Celebration at Dalton

The Dalton community welcomed the Year of Monkey with a fun-filled Chinese Lunar New Year celebration on Wednesday, February 10, 2016. Confucius Classroom and the Mandarin program hosted the event. Over 100 students, family members, and faculty gathered at the Big Dalton Cafeteria enjoyed an evening of delicious Chinese food, performances, and activities.
The evening's program started with a beautiful performance of a traditional Chinese Song, Jasmine Flower, by the Middle School Chorus directed by Ms. Elizabeth Cruz. The singers wore red costumes, a traditional Chinese New Year color.

Lion Dance and Chinese folk dance performance by artists from the New York Chinese Culture Center was one of the evening's highlights. The Monkey King came in person! Students joined in a Kungfu workshop with enthusiasm. The Asian Culture Club, led by Ms. Roxanne Feldman, brought Mahjong a popular Chinese game enjoyed by attendees.

Children went home with bags filled with Chinese-themed gifts. It was a night of culture learning, friendship, and fun.
