Girls Basketball Clinches Back-to-Back Championships

Before a capacity-filled Spence Gym with a tremendous crowd of Dalton supporters, the team trailed early after a slow start. The Tigers turned on the defensive intensity, took the lead, and never looked back, outscoring Poly Prep 36-11 over the next two quarters. Dalton forced 21 turnovers in the game, including a remarkable three 10-second violations with their swarming press. Dalton was led on offense by 31 points from senior Mary Ashley Groot and 14 points from sophomore Izzy Wesley.

The victory was the culmination of a dominant season in which the team finished 23-3 overall, including a second straight undefeated run through the Ivy League. Facing a challenging schedule, Dalton competed against top teams across the Tri-State area, with victories against strong New York City CHSAA and PSAL opponents and conference champions from Pennsylvania and New Jersey. With their remarkable season, the team ranked #1 in New York State Class B.
