¡Arepas Para Todos! Grade 6 Spanish Students Make Arepas con Queso in the Teaching Kitchen
During the first week in April, students in Grade 6 Spanish continued their exploration of the flora and fauna of Colombia with a guest speaker and a cooking experience.
On Tuesday, April 2, students learned about the coffee-growing process from guest speaker Orly Ramirez, whose family grows coffee in Colombia. They learned about the arduous process that is required to bring coffee to our tables through a lecture accompanied by authentic photos - ¡todo en español! On April 3 and 4, students took a trip to the teaching kitchen to make and eat arepas con queso, a traditional snack from Colombia. With the help of Chef Jaz, students formed their own arepas, filled them with cheese, and tasted these cornmeal-based treats. ¡Qué sabroso! Click here to view the photo gallery.
