Students in the 5th Grade Intro to Latin class recently celebrated the 2,774th anniversary of the founding of Rome, at an ab urbe condita Festival.
Students learned about numismatics and created coins to use in the marketplace where they sold vinum (fruit juice), fructus (fruit), caseus (cheese), farcimina (the class used vegetarian sausages), and exotica (the class used gummy starfish and eels).
In addition, the 5th Graders designed chariots, raced in their own circuses, and played ancient Roman games. It was quite a day!
